About the Opportunity: The Director of Media Planning and Strategy will play a crucial role in our business by guiding the deployment of our owned and paid media across all territories in Latin America. This role will develop audience-centric, insight-driven media strategy and tactical plans across paid, owned, and earned media channels, aligned with the overall marketing strategy. Ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of our efforts, this position will act as the main point of coordination between our regional and local marketing teams, our media agency, and the business units that manage and use our owned inventory. The ideal candidate is a results-driven leader focused on achieving marketing excellence and delivering measurable results across WBD Latin America, with a strong background in media planning and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Set media strategy and objectives for streaming division including definition of target segments and reach/frequency goals; align with Brand Marketing on key messages and guidelines for creative execution.
  • Build consolidated view of communication needs for the entire WBD LATAM organization, incorporating input from multiple business units.
  • In coordination with local marketing directors, develop and execute comprehensive media plans aligned with organizational goals, incorporating paid media, owned inventory, barter, partner support and earned media.
  • Maximize efficiency of media investment; build aggregate reports tracking media costs including comparisons across territories, channels, outlets and against industry benchmarks; oversee post-buy audits.
  • Ensure delivery of data feeds tracking our media spend and activity; coordinate with Global MarTech to implement the right taxonomy, formats, tools, cadence and remediation.
  • Manage media agency and other external resources engaged to support the function; ensure adequate resourcing, deliverables, accuracy and timeliness; in coordination with Procurement team, guide contracting process including selection of vendors, definition of scope, required resources and SLAs.
  • Optimize use of owned inventory; set guidelines and processes to evaluate needs from different business units and guidelines to allocate capacity; monitor usage patterns to ensure efficient use of creative resources.
  • In coordination with content and ad sales, drive barter deals to support communication strategy and reduce cash costs.
  • Manage and mentor a team of analysts and planners, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Drive innovation in marketing practices and techniques based on data-driven insights; continuously evaluate and improve processes for greater efficiency and impact.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in media planning, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects for multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.
  • Proven leadership with experience managing and developing a hybrid team comprised of full-time employees and outsourced resources.
  • Strong analytical skills including ability to interpret complex data, deal with ambiguous and incomplete information, and translate conclusions into actionable recommendations.
  • In-depth knowledge of media industry and/or direct-to-consumer operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to summarize and present complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • Proficiency in marketing analytics tools and software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite and advanced visualization tools (Looker, Tableau).
