This individual will play a critical role to ensure the implementation of high standards of safety and adherence across all construction projects in LATAM (Mexico and Brazil). Establishing H&S compliance across existing and new contractual agreements with our vendors. The successful candidate will support the delivery of the International H&S, reporting to the International Field Lead

The role will require knowledge of Mexican and Brazilian Construction safety standards, regulations and behavioral safety habits and understanding of Commercial client obligations. Emphasis on sound safety principles, basic construction knowledge and the ability to engage with cross functional teams, transforming this knowledge to develop Standard Operating procedures, adapt existing safety standards to meet future requirements and enhance safety compliance processes, scaling to support LATAM but Thinking Big to support the globally. This individual will be accountable for the region to meet Safety Targets; working through vendor MBR's, managing local Health and Safety Consultant network, increasing the adoption of BOLT (Digital Safety Mgmt. System) monitoring adherence of Safe Methods of work, compliance to BOLT inspections/audits, delivering high level of safety reporting transparency, whilst driving Safety culture for the region. Utilizing BOLT, the LATAM Safety Manager will analyze data to identify emerging trends, implementing mitigation strategies as required & working with Construction teams to inform the of best practices and lessons learnt as applicable.

The individual will provide a functional working link to critical customer including: Design & Construction, Operations Engineering, Start-up, Launch, Reliability Maintenance Engineering, Procurement, Real Estate and Workplace Health & Safety.

Key job responsibilities

  • Support Construction project managers to perform safety investigations derived from serious incidents and near misses.
  • Ad hoc site visits to perform observations, site safety reviews, meet with vendor safety teams & support construction managers or participate in other site-based activities.
  • Dive deep to develop the LATAM regional safety strategy
  • Prepare & support; weekly, monthly and quarterly safety performance reports.
  • Review safety effectiveness of vendors, developer and subcontracts & alignment to Amazon standards
  • Engage & collaborate with other safety teams to ensure alignment and support as required.
  • Monitor and update changing regulations and industry trends that may influence the LATAM Construction Contractor Safety program.
  • Provide real-time assistance to field team to ensure the compliance with local legislations and H&S requirements.
  • Conduct safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
  • Work with Safety team Subject matter experts globally to plan, support and implement preventative safety, compliance, Social responsibility and training programs.
  • Provide safety technical support & escalation management to construction project managers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7+ years of experience in safety programs in construction, manufacturing, logistics, production or service operations.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (C1+)
  • Experience leading change in multiple site environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluent in Protuguese
  • ASP, CSP, CHST, NEBOSH certifications are preferred
