Job Description

Primary Function of Position

Under general supervision procures all indirect materials to assure production plan fulfillment, establishes and follows internal controls that meets Intuitive’s procedures and regulations, effectively manages employee services and events providing excellent customer services to new and existing team members, supports special projects and Indirect vendors selection in an effective and efficient way by deploying continues improvement culture and Intuitive’s culture to maintain a productive and favorable work environment.

Essential Job Duties

  • Manage the team of Indirect buyers.
    • Creates, trains, and supports purchasing buyers on standard work, to maintain consistency in quality and quantity of work output.
    • Purchase order approval.
    • Capacity planning and balance of department workload.
    • Selects, train, and develop skill level of subordinate personnel.
    • Lead indirect buyers to meet Initiatives and target metrics.
    • Management of overall team performance including annual appraisals.
    • Actively participates in the deployment of our culture, our employee activities, safety, and talent development programs to maintain an adequate work environment in the department.
    • Responsible for defining service level and metrics for all services provided to employees and action plans to drive continuous improvement in cost and customer service.
  • Internal Controls
    • Creates strategies to prevent fraud or nonconformances with internal procedures in the indirect purchasing areas.
    • Complies with financial Internal audits by assuring adherence to internal procedures and external regulations.
    • Notifies and escalates as appropriate any potential conflict of interest, risk of noncompliance or potential frauds to Site’s leader, Internal audit team or higher.
  • Supplier Selection and Supplier Management
    • Performs when applicable bidding process to meet Intuitive’s supplier selection procedure.
    • Supports other areas for supplier selection, supplier approval. processes including engineering, facilities, PMC, Operations, etc.
    • Establish and tracks suppliers’ key performance objectives, including on time shipment and quality targets.
    • Conduct supplier visit and creates a regional network for potential opportunities for integration.
    • Perform high level forecast and performance reviews with key suppliers to support supply planning and buffer demand volatility.
  • Production Support
    • Tracks line downs occurrences and perform root cause analysis related to indirect purchasing.
    • Implements corrective actions to reduce risk of shortages.
    • Ensures timely delivery of all critical materials.
    • Drives improvement initiatives with operations management as applicable.
  • Cost
    • Supports strategic team on annual cost reduction plan to achieve corporate initiative plan.
    • Implement cost reduction projects by negotiating price, service, or terms with suppliers.
    • Reports price increases and escalates high impact situations to site’s leaders and the local finance team.
    • In close collaboration with the finance team and Site’s leader, prepares annual budget, quarterly forecast for indirect materials and reports results to management.
  • Inventory Management
    • When possible, implements inventory management techniques (Kanban) to increase material inventory turns performance.
    • Manages excess and obsolescence by working closely with the 5’s team.
    • Drive our Culture Strategy by fostering our mission, founding principles, individual and leadership expectations.
  • Employee services
    • Manages transportation and cafeteria services
    • Procures and distributes employee uniforms according to internal policies
    • Coordinates lockers service for our variable employees
    • Coordinates carpool program
    • Manages employee services coordinator and formulates strategy to assure quality of services according to HC growth.
    • Organizes and coordinates employee events
    • Responsible for defining service level and metrics for all services provided to employees and action plans to drive continuous improvement in cost and customer service.
Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Significant computer experience including MS Office products and ERP systems, preferably SAP and Agile. Strong Excel and Database skills.
  • Proven track record of being an effective project manager in a fast paced, high volume manufacturing company.
  • Detailed working knowledge of buying, material planning, master scheduling, and forecasting.
  • Demonstrates concern for precision and thoroughness.
  • Proven ability to lead a team to consistently achieve stretch goals and objectives and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Ability to provide positive direction by encouraging peers to have a commitment to high standards of quality and performance.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects successfully.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Spanish and English)
  • Effectively manages task breakdown, helps keep individual contributors on task, player-coach; ability to step in and perform hard tasks.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience with proven track record of savings
  • 20% travel is required

  • A solid local network of potential suppliers for services and indirect materials.
  • Bilingual and bicultural skills, ability to speak, write and present in English.

Required Education And Training

  • BS degree or equivalent and 5+ years of experience managing an Indirect or MRO purchasing team in high and low volume-manufacturing environments.
