Discover Your Purpose: Role Summary


Reporting directly to the VP, General Manager of Hill's Latam, the Director of Professional Veterinary Affairs leads the regional strategic vision to make nutrition a cornerstone of veterinary medicine. In this executive leadership role, you will champion impactful programs across the veterinary profession and drive commercial growth for the Latin America organization by managing regional veterinary affairs, scientific affairs, and consulting teams. You will elevate Hill’s scientific leadership, build world-class relationships with key thought leaders, and foster an inclusive, high-performing culture across the region. You will help enrich and strengthen the long-term relationships between Hill’s and veterinary professionals, current and future as well as enrich and lengthen the special relationships between people and their pets.


Your Impact: Responsibilities


  • Localize and execute the Global Professional Veterinary Affairs (PVA) strategy to drive veterinary recommendation, market share expansion, and top- and bottom-line commercial growth across Latin America.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the LATAM Professional Consulting Veterinarians (PCV) and Scientific & Academic Affairs (S&AA) teams, providing clear priorities and direct management to ensure high-performance execution.
  • Cultivate and manage strategic partnerships with critical industry stakeholders, including veterinary healthcare teams, academic institutions, specialized societies, corporate groups, and Key Thought Leaders.
  • Serve as a core member of the LATAM Leadership Team, collaborating with commercial, marketing, and global stakeholders to provide strategic veterinary, scientific, and regulatory insights.
  • Oversee technical and scientific training, the country technical helpline, and the approval of all technical marketing materials to ensure absolute compliance with ethical, regulatory, and corporate standards.
  • Direct the regional professional digital strategy and manage the regional PVA budget to maximize digital engagement, operational efficiency, and policy compliance.


Skills That Make Us Smile: Required Qualifications


  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
    or equivalent professional degree in veterinary medicine.
  • 9+ years of total professional experience within the animal health, veterinary pharmaceutical, or premium pet nutrition industries.
  • 4+ years of experience in a veterinary clinical practice or equivalent industry role.
  • 3+ years of direct people management and team leadership experience.
  • Formal specialization or post-graduate studies in pet nutrition.
  • Established and active professional network within regional veterinary communities, academic institutions, and specialist societies.
  • Advanced English level.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% across the Latin America region.

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent business and practice management experience.
  • Demonstrated digital aptitude with experience executing digital engagement initiatives.
  • Professional proficiency in Portuguese to facilitate seamless collaboration with the Brazilian market.
  • Prior corporate experience within a global premium pet food company or tier-1 animal health/pharmaceutical organization.
  • Deep understanding of the pet food industry and veterinary commercial business models.
  • High global mobility and a strong desire to relocate internationally for your next career progression step.
