Mechanical Design Technician

What is your role?

As Mechanical Design Technician you will support the design, development, fabrication, and implementation of fixtures, tooling, and equipment solutions for NPI and manufacturing processes. This position works closely with FED engineers and cross-functional teams to create CAD models, drawings, prototypes, and technical documentation while assisting in equipment validation, deployment, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What will you do?

• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, and technical documentation for fixtures, tooling, and support equipment.
• Support the development, fabrication, assembly, and validation of fixture and equipment solutions for NPI and manufacturing.
• Operate and maintain resin and filament 3D printers to support prototyping and fixture development activities.
• Assist engineers in prototype development, testing, troubleshooting, and equipment implementation activities.
• Support fixture validations and production trials on the manufacturing floor in collaboration with NPI, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to support production needs and process improvements.
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to obtain components, materials, and fabricated parts.
• Maintain accurate BOMs, drawings, and engineering records in accordance with company standards.
• Support equipment installation, startup, validation, and operator training activities.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
  
  

What are we looking for?

• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and technical drawing creation.
• Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, materials, manufacturing processes, and assembly methods.
• Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation.
• Experience supporting fixture, tooling, or equipment design projects.
• Experience operating and maintaining resin and filament 3D printing equipment.
• Basic understanding of mechanical components such as bearings, actuators, pneumatics, sensors, and motion systems.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Analytical and troubleshooting skills
  
  

What do you need?

• Associate degree, Technical Degree, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Design, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Technology, or related field. Minimum 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing, mechanical design, drafting, or equipment support.

What would make you stand out?

• Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) programs in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with fixture fabrication, assembly, validation, and production floor support activities.
• Knowledge of machining, sheet metal fabrication, additive manufacturing, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience working with suppliers and technical documentation.
• Continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing experience
