Mechanical Design Engineer

What is your role?

Lead the design and development of fixtures, tooling, and semi-automated equipment solutions that support NPI and manufacturing process improvements across OCS. This position is responsible for solving complex engineering challenges, translating manufacturing requirements into innovative technical solutions, and driving projects from concept through implementation. The role works closely with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to deliver safe, scalable, and cost-effective solutions that enhance quality, productivity, and operational efficiency while supporting Fixture Equipment Design’s automation and innovation strategy.

What will you do?

• Design and implement fixture, tooling, and semi-automated equipment solutions for NPI and manufacturing.
• Lead projects from concept, design, and validation through production deployment.
• Resolve complex engineering and process challenges using data-driven problem-solving methods.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and labor productivity through fixture and automation solutions.
• Support NPI programs by translating manufacturing requirements into scalable fixture and equipment designs.
• Maintain engineering documentation and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Support equipment startup, continuous improvement initiatives, and personnel training.
• Drive innovation by developing standardized, scalable, and automation-focused solutions that support FED's long-term manufacturing strategy.
  
  

What are we looking for?

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a systematic approach to root cause analysis and solution development.
• Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, including materials, manufacturing processes, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and assembly methods.
• Experience designing fixtures, tooling, and automated or semi-automated equipment using components such as motors, actuators, bearings, pneumatics, and motion systems.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD design software (SolidWorks preferred) and mechanical drawing creation.
• Ability to integrate commercial technologies and standard components into reliable manufacturing solutions.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  
  

What do you need?

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing, fixture design, or equipment development.
• Advanced English
